  • Where can a highschooler find organizations that need teen involvement and leadership?

Posted by admin on February 27th, 2010 and filed under leadership organization | 2 Comments »

I’m in highschool and am looking for different organizations to be able to find leadership roles and community service. This could be anything near or in the "Bay Area" (San Fransisco, California). Any suggestions on where I can find them?

Begin by going to your highschool guidance counsolor, they usually have job listings and will have tons of ideas for local oportunities. Next, look around your area in fields you may be interested in. Often hospitals or nursing homes take volunteers to visit the elderly or help host events. The local YMCA or children’s center usually takes volunteers to help with programs. A church will almost always have openings if you’d like to run a bible study or another program. They also often know of other openings in the community.

Good luck, I hope this helped!

why is employee persepective important during the process of change in an organization?

Because they’re the ones affected the most; they’re the ones actualizing the changes. Best to include them in the process if you want a smooth transition.

Ultimately, management has a responsibility to the business, to make decisions in the organization’s best interests. Can be kinda cold…

Is lowering morale an effective strategy for downsizing an organization due to people quitting voluntarily?

It would probably work, but unfortunately the people who could leave the easiest, so would probably be the first ones out the door, are probably the ones you want to keep rather than the ones you want to get rid of. Overall, a really bad tactic I’d say.

    Professional Engineering Student Organization?

I am running an engineering student organization in my university. I have contacted over a 100 companies asking for speakers or field trips or any sort of event but no company reply backs and the ones that do, refuse to participate. What should I do? I really want to arrange some events involving companies. Any ideas?

merhaba. I’m surprised to hear you contacted over 100 companies to get no results. what department did you contact and how did you contact them?

when you said "my university", I assumed you are in SFSU. Am I right?

Let me introduce myself. My name is Kiyoshi Sera. I’m an SFSU Engineering Alumnus circa 1977. I live near the university. I come to audit classes from time to time. Last year, I helped a senior student for his project.

What are some activities or organizations that are good to add to a college application?

Posted by admin on February 27th, 2010 and filed under organizations | 2 Comments »

I have to apply to the professional phase of pharmacy school this fall (so im already in college) and i am just looking for some ideas on different activities and organizations that might look good to put on the application. if anyone has had any success with a certain activity or organization it would be greatly appreciated! I already work in a pharmacy, just looking for some extra things to add.

    Yikes. That didn’t sound good.

Schools of that level like to see that you’re really dedicated to something you do – they like to see that you put a lot of time and effort into it, and stuck with it for several years. If you have anything like that, you should definitely include it.

Ahh, it’s bad to just add "extra things", if they honestly didn’t have a big impact on your life. Get involved with something that you’re actually really interested in, not just what will look better in the end. You’ll be happier and better off that way.

However, some things which DO look good would be the work in the pharmacy (excellent), any leadership positions you may have, or COMMUNITY SERVICE. Graduate schools love to see community service. So you better go out there and help some needy people :] lol

Good luck! I hope you get in <3

What job can I get within a sports organization with a business administration degree?

Posted by admin on February 27th, 2010 and filed under business organization | 2 Comments »

I really want to work for a professional sports organization–like an NFL team. What kind of job would be available to me if I went to college for business administration? Or is there a better degree to get?

I have worked in sports ( and I graduated with a BBA- Marketing) and I will say you can obtain any front office job with the BBA degree. However, to work in the NFL you will need to work your way up, and it is a TOUGH TOUGH TOUGH job to work in.

You need to intern with a lower level sports team first and keep on getting experience and networking.
There are lots of competition for jobs and because everyone want to do it your salary will be quite low. Like in the range of $20,000 and you make end meet by selling tickets to events and sponsorship ( even though your job might not be sales)

I am not trying to scare you (because this is a very fun job to have) but please do understand you will have a tough life. Also, you might have to move a lot from one team to the other. So if you can’t do that don’t go into this industry.

I am invoicing an organization for services i provided last year. They say it’s too late & won’t pay. help!!!

I am a therapist providing individual services. I provided these services to an organization last year and am just now invoicing them for the past year. The dates that I provided the service were lost to me and I had to recreate them using a paper trail. They sent me a letter saying that if I don’t invoice them within a certain time period they could not pay me. How do I collect for the services I provided?

I say skip the lawyer and send them a letter giving them a day to pay or you will file in small claims court for the amount they owe and court cost. Should they respond with anything but a check, reply with a letter reminding them of the deadline and that’s all. Do not engage in negations with them. If that time passes and you have no check, FILE! A lawyer will likely take more than they owe you and they probably know that. Having said that, turn that little fact around on them.

Check your state. In the state I live in a corporation MUST be represented by counsel in any court hearing. I think this is the case for most states. A corporation is not a person. In court, you can act as your own lawyer. A corporation can’t. Odds are good that they will pay you (and the and court costs) rather than pay a Lawyer.

    Good Luck!
