I can think of a few but I heard some take a fee or percentage for themselves.

What are some organizations that will pass on the money to the actual people in need and not that that much or any of my donation?

These organizations don’t hand out money to people. They use the money to fly in critical medical and food supplies and to buy those supplies in the first place, to pay the emergency logistic experts, medical teams and others (it’s nice to think that they all volunteer, but they actually have bills, just like anyone else).

The American Red Cross and ReliefWeb can give you complete details on where to donate financially for Japan. That’s what’s most important right now. Also see the Japanese Red Cross
http://www.jrc.or.jp/english/

American Red Cross
http://www.redcross.org

Or Text REDCROSS to 90999 to give $10 (will be added to the donors’ next cellphone bill).

Mercy Corps in the USA has set up a donation fund for its partner, Peace Winds Japan, and its emergency assistance on the ground.

Check the ReliefWeb web site

I mean NOT the manufacturers but organizations or associations that promote or encourage the use wind energy or wind turbines. Can you give like 10 of them please?
Thank you in advance for your answers!

Thomas Boone Pickens, Jr. (born May 22, 1928), known as T. Boone Pickens, is an American financier who chairs the hedge fund BP Capital Management and he attempted to promote the use of wind energy. He was a well-known takeover operator and corporate raider during the 1980s. With an estimated current net worth of about $1.4 billion, he is ranked by Forbes as the 290th-richest person in America and ranked 880th in the world.

Louis Burton Lindley, Jr. (June 29, 1919 – December 8, 1983), better known by the stage name Slim Pickens, was an American rodeo performer and film and television actor who epitomized the profane, tough, sardonic cowboy, but who is best remembered for his comic roles, notably in Dr. Strangelove, 1941 and Blazing Saddles. He attempted to promote the use of wind energy as well.

I think your best bet is to go through VolunteerMatch and Guidestar and look at the organizations in your area and pick those that fit your definition of organizations "that try and make society a better place".

How are faith based and non-profit organizations different from for-profit
organizations, such as a corporation? In what sense are these organizations
similar to each other?

A nonprofit organization is a mission-based organization. Similarities to for-profits include that they employ staff, have human resources systems and accounting systems, and want to make enough money to cover all expenses, including salaries, and fund all activities. The difference is that for-profits make their money at least some of their money through income generation activities (selling goods and services). For-profits can also make money through having services contracted (government agencies and even nonprofit organizations sometimes hire for-profit companies to perform certain services). Nonprofits can also make money from selling products and services or contracts from other organizations to provide certain services, but they also make their money from donations.

When a for-profit makes a profit (more money than it needs to cover expenses), the profits are distributed among share holders and sometimes even staff. When a nonprofit makes a profit, the money cannot be given to staff or the board of directors as profit-sharing — it has to go back into the organization to pay for expenses.
