New Digital Strategies for Cultural Organizations in an Era of Infinite Choice

Posted by admin on July 2nd, 2010 and filed under organizations | No Comments »

(Session from Conference 2010/Atlanta) The business and consumption of culture is profoundly shifting, challenging every cultural organization in America to rethink how they do business. These changes aren’t merely a marketing issue; they require rethinking the ways cultural organizations do business and build and relate to their communities. Every cultural organization is experimenting with social media tools like Facebook, but these are ineffective unless harnessed to overall strategies for the institution. This session will give an overview of the ways our broader cultural consumption is changing and present case studies from other industries that suggest effective strategies for successful cultural organizations in the 21st century.

What are some organizations helping rehabilitate animals in the Gulf?

Posted by admin on June 28th, 2010 and filed under organizations | 1 Comment »

My friends and I raised money for animals effected by the Gulf oil spill and we were wondering what would be some good organizations to donate to. The ones we had in mind fell through and we found out they wouldn’t use the money to help in the Gulf. Thanks in Advance!

Your intention is admirable but right now money cannot buy a miracle.may i suggest for now that you donate your funds to a local bird sanctuary such as Salem or West-coast.

How does scheduling for boxing fights in major organizations work?

Posted by admin on June 18th, 2010 and filed under organizations | 2 Comments »

By major organizations, I’m talking about International Boxing Organization, World Boxing Organization, World Boxing Association, etc.

Can a fighter challenge another fighter for an official match or are all matches already properly scheduled?

There are certain fights that are mandatory for a champion to take because of mandatory challengers in which a fighter has won title eliminators to earn a shot at the title. Not ALL championship fights are mandatories though- sometimes a fighter will opt to make an optional defense when he does not have to make a mandatory defense. A champion can defend against any fighter who is ranked in the top 25 of that particular sanctioning body but the sanctioning bodies can sometimes make exceptions for unification bouts.

The only time that the sanctioning bodies schedule matchups is when a champion must make a mandatory defense and the promoters cannot come to an agreement as to where the fight should be held or what the purse split should be- in those cases, the sanctioning body will call a purse bid in which the the promoter with the highest bid will determine where the fight is to be held and in most cases, it is customary that the champion receive 75 percent of the purse while the challenger receives 25 and in cases where the title is vacant, both fighters will receive 50 percent although there can be exceptions to these rules. In cases where a fighter moves up or down in weight to challenge for a title but already owns a title in another weight class, the fighter will have a set amount of time to determine which title he wants to keep.

An example of a non-scheduled bout would be the Foreman-Cotto bout- Foreman is making an optional defense of his junior middleweight title because Cotto is not his mandatory challenger but since Foreman’s mandatory defense is not due for a few months, he has the opportunity to take on Cotto in a big opportunity for him. An example of a mandatory would be the 2 fights in Germany this Saturday- Sebastian Sylvester is making a mandatory defense of his middleweight title against Roman Karmazin and Steve Cunningham is fighting Troy Ross for a vacant cruiserweight title. If Sylvester didn’t want to face Karmazin, he would have been stripped of his title and Karmazin would have faced the number 2 contender according to that sanctioning body for the vacant title.

What organizations are assisting in cleaning up the animals affected by the Gulf Coast oil leak?

Posted by admin on June 15th, 2010 and filed under organizations | 1 Comment »

I want to act NOW to raise money for the organizations helping clean and protect the animals endangered by the oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico. Living all the way up in the MidWest, physical help isn’t an option for my friends and I, so we’re planning a fund raiser, but what organization or company should we donate the money to?????

    National Wildlife Foundation.

Dawn dishwashing detergent also has an easy program:

They use Dawn to clean the animals. Perhaps you could run a donation drive for people to buy Dawn, and then collect them to donate to various shelters (homeless, battered women, etc).

The Church of Satan’s Contradiction (Satanism as a Philosophy vs. as an Organization)

Posted by admin on June 14th, 2010 and filed under organizations | No Comments »

*Comments from idiotic retards will be deleted.* My personal views on LaVeyan Satanism as a Philosophy vs. as a Organization. I am myself a Satanist, but question what it should really be conveying to society if they don’t want to be misinterpreted and have Christian organizations spread hoaxes/lies that Anton had revelations on his death bed, that they make human sacrifices associated with cults, etc. Although The COS’ reasons for presenting itself with phrases like “Hail Satan!” is symbolic, and for theatrical/spiritual motivation, should it truly be conveyed that way if they truly want to be understood by society? This is a really rather neglected and misinterpreted subject, thus this is for people are familiar with the COS ONLY.

Miss America Katie Stam: Faith Before Beauty

Posted by admin on June 10th, 2010 and filed under organizations | 3 Comments »

In January, Miss Indiana Katie Stam was crowned Miss America 2009. She competed against 51 other contestants to win the 88-year-old pageant.

Last year, the Miss America Organization and its state and local organizations made available more than $45 million in cash and scholarship assistance. Along with the title of Miss America 2009, Katie won a $50,000 scholarship to continue her education.

Prior to becoming Miss America, Katie was a student at the University of Indianapolis. Her goal is to pursue a degree in communication and ultimately become a television news anchor. She says the experience that she has gained while serving as Miss America will be invaluable.

Over the next year, Katie will travel approximately 20,000 miles each month (changing her location every 18 36 hours) and speak to audiences about her Platform of Service; Promoting Community Service and Involvement and acting as the official National Goodwill Ambassador for Childrens Miracle Network, a non-profit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for childrens hospitals. Working with this organization has taught me to be more positive, says Katie.

In a new twist, viewers of a lead-in reality show, Miss America: Countdown to the Crown voted in four of the 15 finalists, while the judges announced the other 11 during a live television broadcast. Katie was one of the four finalists chosen by the viewers.

Katie says she is ecstatic about the new direction for the Miss America pageant. The pageant needed to be modernized to make it more contemporary. She says the new format is more relatable for people.

Katie grew up in Seymour Indiana and began competing in pageants at the age of 15. She says her ultimate dream was to win the title of Miss America. To ensure that it was her decision to pursue this goal, Katies parents made her take an active role in completing applications for each pageant.

Born and raised Lutheran, Katie recalls, Going to church was a habit. it is what you are suppose to do. It wasnt until college that she got excited about being a Christian. When a friend invited Katie to a church that offered a more contemporary format, Katie was reluctant at first. After a few more visits, Katie joined the church.

Since becoming Miss America, Katie shares that she has grown in many areas of her life. She says the biggest area of her life that has experienced the most growth is spiritual. She gives so much credit to her faith for winning the title of Miss America.
