I’m afraid that at some point in the future some stupid tribe will feel "discriminated" by it.
First off you shouldnt say anything about "stupid tribe". And a little fact checking will go a long ways in erasing your own ignorance of fact in most cases of logo questions. Native Americans are very rarely at the root of any movement regarding representative sports logo arguments. It is usually some group of overzealous "PC" groups who very often dont even bother asking the local tribes for an opinion or even have them as represetative voices in the removal of the logo. If a Native American group does come forward I am certain the Hawks ownership will address the situation with respect (that means no calling them "stupid tribes") and have meaningful conversations with that group. WIll it change things….very likely it will not. The use of native logo’s runs pretty deep if you bother to look into it and by and large most Native Americans if not fully supportive are not like the self serving political movement groups that all too often are ignorant of the facts and even the feelings of the people they think they represent…..they do it for their own attention. The Hawks logo has come under scrutiny in the past and has not been changed. This isnt an issue you need to be concerned with unless there is a sudden outcry in Illinois over the use of Native logo’s. The Fighting Illini would be part of any discussion as well….the inference is no different.

I’m waiting for British monarchists to put the pressure on the Kings to change their name.

I’m afraid of that too. What a lot of ignorant perks! Unlike the Indians, Redskins, and Chiefs, the Blackhawks are the actual name of the tribe, giving respect to them. Other teams use derogatory terms, and should be made to change their name.

LITY would know for sure but I think that the Blackhawks organization has some kind of a deal with the Indian tribes around Chicago. Many professional sports teams as well as college and high school teams have not had to change their names. Washington Redskins, Cleveland Indians, Atlanta Braves for example. Some have been forced to or have even chosen to change. Eastern Michigan University went from the Hurons to the Eagles. I think the Redskins is far more offensive than the Blackhawks.
I guess we will have to wait and see.

No.
I agree w/Dale. Any team that sucks hueveos so bad should not be allowed to be called the Kings.

The only native american organization that should have the right to force the Blackhawks to change their logo would be the Sauk tribe and frankly I think that they have bigger things to be worried about than a NHL team’s logo. Like someone said the organizations that are forcing teams to change names, logos and mascots are generally groups that are too worried with making everything politically correct. These organizations usually don’t represent the people that they are saying are being "oppressed" and are actually doing more to oppress the tribes than they are to help.

No probably not, because someone would have already done it by now if it was offensive. Plus it isn’t even offending anyone, the logo shows power and awesomeness. It is in no way racist. If you are thinking about the whole thing with University of Illinois, Native Americans got offended because white people were dressing up as Native Americans for basketball games and doing tribal dances during half time. I can see why they changed that.

If they haven’t made the Washington Redskins change their name, I wouldn’t worry about it…

Wow…what a great tone to your question…
"Why can’t those STUPID tribes realize it’s an HONOR right?? This is actually "discrimination" of our right to use Indian logos!"
The only racism that some racists care to recognize is "reverse-racism" …then they’re Johnny of the F-in Spot calling that S out. I would agree that the Blackhawks is a relatively benign name…there are far worse (and disrespectful) team names out there that haven’t been changed yet. But still, this type of question highlights the real concern that tribes have about using Indian logos.
