      Actually Porter 5 forces was developed in 1979 by Michael Porter. As of today it has been 31 yrs since its development.

      The five forces were not an invention. They’ve been around a long time, probably since the time when people first started making businesses. Porter was the first to describe them in this particular framework.

      I think it means that eventhough Porter wrote about the five forces, businesses have allways had to deal with things like threats from new competitors, substitue products etc. Porter made the model that companies can use to make it easier to deal with these things.. Hope you get my drift?

      Hey guys! Great video. Note on 03:30 the interviewer says: “The 5 forces have been around for more then 30 years, and before you wrote them”…. What does he mean? Isn´t it Michael E. Porter who made the porter 5 forces? Can someone please explain..

      Even though it is not a zero sum game it may still lead to a loss for the company. I am not disagreeing with porter, just that specific argument.
